Dunn-Edwards selects UTC RETAIL's™ Java based Store Automation Solutions and Services

Rochester, January 14, 2008 – UTC RETAIL™, a leading provider of retail management solutions including software, hardware and professional services, announced today the completion of a rollout to 96 Dunn-Edwards Paint stores located in California, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico and Texas. Dunn-Edwards of California, based in Los Angeles, is one of the nation's largest independent, employee-owned manufacturers and distributors of architectural paints and painting supplies. Dunn-Edwards implemented UTC RETAIL's POS-J Java based point-of-sale solution system wide, to over 500 register systems.
Dunn-Edwards engaged UTC RETAIL's Professional Services organization to perform key integration and customization that greatly improved the stores operational performance and customer experience. Highlights include:

Integration of the new point-of-sale system with the existing SAP back office system through the POS-J Service Oriented Architecture (SOA).

Development and implementation of a custom paint tinting module to create a more efficient checkout process by eliminating the use of paper and the manual transmitting of orders to the tint room. UTC RETAIL's paint tinting application is seamlessly integrated with the POS-J application and allows custom color orders to be taken at the point-of-sale and electronically transmitted to the tinting machine for adding colorant, eliminating time and reducing the possibility of costly errors.

Training of 900 users with the highly intuitive, full featured easy to use POS-J register. Nick Hess, Sr. Vice President of Operations at Dunn-Edwards stated, "I couldn't be more pleased with our new POS system and the implementation experience.
